The Gorilla Trekking Experience

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi begins with a morning briefing before visitors are allocated to specific gorilla families. Trekking time varies from 1 to 6 hours depending on gorilla movement. Once located, visitors spend one hour observing mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Uganda Gorilla Permits 2026

All Uganda gorilla trekking safaris require a valid gorilla permit issued by Uganda Wildlife Authority.

  • UGX 300,000 – East African Citizens

Permits are limited and should be secured in advance, especially during peak travel months (June–September and December–February).
