The best destinations are Kibale National Park, Budongo Forest, Kyambura Gorge, Kalinzu Forest, and Bulindi community reserve.

Permit prices vary: Kibale $250, Budongo $130, Kalinzu $130, Kyambura $100, Bulindi $100. Habituation permits range $250–$300.

We recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance, especially for Kibale, as permits are limited and sell out quickly.

Most treks take 2–4 hours, including locating the chimps and spending 1 hour in their company. Habituation experiences last all day.

The minimum age is 12 years for chimpanzee tracking in all Uganda forests.

Yes, photography is allowed, but flash is strictly prohibited to avoid disturbing the chimps.

You should maintain a minimum distance of 8–10 meters to ensure safety and minimize the risk of disease transmission.

Essentials include hiking boots, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, light snacks, binoculars, and a rain jacket.
