Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Bujumbura & City Discovery
Upon arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional Feather Trail Safaris guide and transferred to Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika, a beautiful lakeside retreat offering a relaxing introduction to Burundi.
If time allows, you will embark on a short city tour of Bujumbura. This experience introduces you to the capital’s key landmarks and monuments while offering insight into Burundi’s history, culture, and daily life. It’s a perfect way to ease into your journey and understand the country’s identity.

Day 2 – Community & Nature
After breakfast, begin your day with a meaningful visit to the Busekera Pygmy Village, where you will meet members of the Batwa community. This experience offers a rare and authentic opportunity to learn about their traditional lifestyle, music, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. It is both educational and deeply human, providing insight into one of Burundi’s most unique communities.
The journey continues to the Teza Tea Plantations near Kibira National Park. As you travel into the highlands, the scenery transforms into rolling green hills covered with tea fields. Later, return to Bujumbura with a stop at the historic Livingstone and Stanley Monument, marking the meeting point of two famous explorers.

Day 6 – Rusizi River Boat Cruise & Departure
