Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Cultural Experience in Ruhengeri
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your driver/guide will warmly welcome you and take you on a short city tour. Highlights may include the craft market, Gisozi Genocide Memorial, and Kigali Museum.

Afterward, enjoy a scenic two-hour drive to Ruhengeri, framed by the dramatic backdrop of the Virunga Volcanoes. At the Red Rocks Intercultural Exchange Centre, you’ll join local brew makers to learn the art of banana beer brewing and participate in traditional activities such as basket weaving. Your visit directly supports local families.

Optional activities for early arrivals: visit the Musanze Caves, explore local villages, or pay tribute at the grave of Dian Fossey, the legendary primatologist of “Gorillas in the Mist.”

Overnight at La Palme Hotel (Full Board)

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking – Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: gorilla trekking. Guided by park rangers, you’ll hike through lush bamboo forests until you come face-to-face with these gentle giants.

The hour you spend in the presence of mountain gorillas is truly magical, an intimate experience that leaves you humbled and inspired. Though trekking can be strenuous, the reward is beyond imagination.

Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you may choose to relax or take part in optional cultural activities.

Day 3: Kigali City Tour – Departure
After breakfast, return to Kigali with another chance to explore the city. Visit the lively markets, Gisozi Genocide Memorial, or enjoy last-minute shopping for souvenirs. Later, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your flight home.
