This carefully curated Feather Trail Safaris itinerary combines the best of East Africa’s primate and wildlife experiences into one seamless journey. Begin in Uganda with unforgettable encounters in the ancient rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. The journey then transitions into Tanzania’s iconic northern safari circuit, where vast savannahs, volcanic landscapes, and dense wildlife populations create one of the richest safari experiences in Africa.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Entebbe, Uganda

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport where you will make your own accommodation arrangements for the night. Depending on your arrival time, optional activities include a sunset experience on Lake Victoria, a visit to the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, or a relaxed lakeside dinner.

Day 2 – Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Morning domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park followed by a scenic transfer to your forest lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided community walk introducing you to local culture and forest life.

Day 3 – First Gorilla Trekking Experience

Early morning briefing before entering the dense rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for your first mountain gorilla trekking adventure. Once located, you will spend one magical hour observing the gorilla family in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, transfer to Ruhija sector for a change of scenery.

Day 4 – Second Gorilla Trek & Jungle Experiences

A second gorilla trekking experience in a different sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offers a completely new encounter and forest perspective. In the afternoon, optional activities include a waterfall hike, Batwa cultural visit, or guided forest walk.

This rare double-trek experience provides deeper insight into gorilla behavior and rainforest biodiversity.

Day 5 – Fly Uganda to Tanzania (via Entebbe)

Transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for a domestic flight back to Entebbe, connecting to an international flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. On arrival, meet your Tanzania guide and transfer to Arusha for overnight rest.

Day 6 – Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive. The park is famous for its elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and rich wildlife diversity. Evening relaxation at your lodge.

Day 7 – Tarangire to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, journey through the scenic highlands of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area en route to Serengeti National Park. Arrive in the Seronera region, one of the richest wildlife zones in Africa, with excellent chances of predator sightings during your afternoon game drive.

Day 8 – Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands

Full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park, tracking wildlife across the endless plains, including wildebeest, zebra, lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Depending on the season, follow sections of the Great Migration. Later, continue with en-route game viewing as you exit the park and ascend to the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Day 9 – Ngorongoro Crater Safari & Departure

After breakfast, descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive. This natural wildlife sanctuary hosts an extraordinary density of animals including black rhino, lions, elephants, buffalo, and flamingos.

After the safari, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight (evening flights recommended).

The Gorilla Tracking included in this safari depends on the availability of gorilla trekking permits at the time of booking. These permits are strictly limited and sold out in advance, especially during peak seasons of Christmas and school holidays. We therefore strongly recommend booking early.
