Burundi Cultural encounters

Day 1: Arrival in Bujumbura

Upon arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional Feather Trail Safaris guide and transferred to your hotel located along the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short orientation of Bujumbura, where you will explore selected landmarks and gain insight into the local culture and daily life.

Overnight: Club du Lac Tanganyika

Day 2: Culture, Tea Plantations & Royal Heritage

After breakfast, begin your cultural exploration with one of the following experiences:

  • Option 1: Visit a Batwa community village to learn about traditional lifestyles, music, and crafts
  • Option 2: Explore the scenic Teza tea plantations near Kibira National Park, where you will enjoy a guided walk through the lush green fields and surrounding forest

Continue your journey to Gitega, Burundi’s cultural capital.

 National Museum

Visit the renowned Gishora Royal Drums Sanctuary, where you will experience traditional drumming performances and learn about their deep cultural significance.

Later, explore the National Museum of Gitega, home to historical artifacts and cultural exhibits that tell the story of Burundi’s heritage.

In the evening, return to Bujumbura.

Overnight: Club du Lac Tanganyika

Day 3: Rusizi River Boat Cruise & Departure

After breakfast, head to Rusizi National Park for a relaxing boat cruise along the Rusizi River.

During the cruise, you may spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species, as well as the scenic point where the Rusizi River flows into Lake Tanganyika.

After the excursion, transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
